Santa Clarita -
Lower Trash Collection Fee
City residents are charged less and receive better trash collection services! The City's newest franchise agreement with Blue Barrel became effective in April 2006.
- City residents pay $16.25 per month ($13 for seniors) compared to over $22 per month for County residents. This will save you about $70 annually! Additionally there is no fuel surcharge saving and additional $20 to $30 annually.
- City trash service includes three 90-gallon bins for trash, recycling, and green waste.
- The City provides on-call curb side collection of hazardous waste and bulky item pick up.

* Average savings based on total monthly utility bills of $333 What the County Says: The County has said that they are trying to enter into a franchisement agreement with local trash haulers to reduce the fee for unincororpated County residents. However, this hasn't happened yet and the deatils of the ultimate agreement, if successful, are unknown. The City did this years ago. Where has the County been? If the County has always been able to do this for us why haven't they done this before now? Why have we been unnecessarily paying higher fees for these many years? We've also been told that since there are fewer customers in the unincorprated County, the trash haulers cannot charge a fee as low as what City residents pay and that the level of service will not be equal. |
