Streetlight Maintenace Fee

Southern California Edison provides the City with streetlight services.

  • The City's annual fee is $50. The County fee is $5.
  • This fee pays for:
o Electricity to keep the streetlights on
o Maintenance, such as bulb replacement
o Repairs, such as if a pole is knocked over
o Patrols to ensure the streetlights are working properly

Question:

Why does the City charge more for these services than the County?

Answer: The County pays about the same as the City for these services but you pay for these services through the 5% utility users tax. The City does not charge this tax!

The following table shows that even with this increased assessment, annexation will save you money!
