Keep Taxes Local

Annexation will keep a large part of our taxes local.  Currently the County collects our property tax and all sales tax that is spent in our community.  These taxes are then spent on programs throughout the County, on programs that do not benefit our community. 

With annexation, a portion of our property tax and all of the sale tax would go the City.  The City would spent it to increase the levels of municpal service provided to us and discussed throughout this website.  We would directly benefit.  I would much rather have my taxes spent on the roads and parks and recreational programs and police protection which I use and which keep me and my family safe, rather than on some ill-fated or mismanged County program that doesn't benefit our community (the King Drew Medical Center fiasco comes to mind).  

Incorporation

You may have heard that if the westside communities incorporate into a new city, then the new city would get to keep these tax dollars and spend them locally.  This isn't accurate.  Click here to find out why incorporation is good for the County but bad for the residents.
